For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been doing a “Back-to-the-Basics” on a Facebook Group I’m a part of and I’ve been getting good feedback.
So, I’ve decided to start doing “Back-to-the-Basics” on Mondays to go over the basics of marketing for you. This will be quotes and marketing lessons from the Millionaire Maker, Dan Kennedy (This will be Parody style… Let’s have a little fun, shall we?!).
Now, if you’re new to marketing a lot of this will be new to you. If you’re been studying marketing for a while now, you’ll be thinking, “I’ve heard that before!” Well, yes… yes you have!
If you’re like me, you’ve heard some great advice or had a great marketing lesson, only to forget about it for the new shiny object. So, that’s where “Back-to-the-Basics” comes into play.
It’s to remind you of these quotes and marketing lessons that you may have heard a hundred times, or never heard at all, but never took action with what you learned. And, by hearing it for the first time or 100th time, it’s to get it engraved in your brain so you never forget… and to take action with it!
So, let’s get started, shall we?!…
Yesterday, I was searching around to find Dan for our first “Back to the Basics” Monday, and I found him wondering around the field on his bull (Who can blame him, it’s a rare sunny day here in Cleveland).
He didn’t have much time to talk, so he gave us a few words of wisdom:
“While most business owners get a customer in order to make a sale, we make a sale to get and keep a customer.”
Wise words from a wise man.
When you get a customer to make a sale you’re not concentrating on actually keeping this customer for the long term. You’re not collecting contact info, you’re not trying to sell them anything else because they did just what you asked… “buy my product and I won’t do anything to bring you back.”
But… when you make a sale to get and keep a customer, you’re actively collecting contact info, you’re actively marketing to said customers, and… you’re asking for referrals to make a sale and get another customer! <—This is how successful businesses are built.
So, write this quote down from Dan Kennedy, and keep it somewhere where you can refer to it often: “While most business owners get a customer in order to make a sale, we make a sale to get and keep a customer.”
Until next time, get out there and go take action!
It’s a rip-roaring, ball-tearing tip David!
“While most business owners get a customer in order to make a sale, we make a sale to get and keep a customer.”
Thanks for posting it.
You’re welcome, Mike. Glad you liked it!
