Back-to-the-Basics: Respond

Ever make a comment or question on a business’s Facebook page only to be ignored?  How about sending an email to a business and never getting a response?

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of businesses and non-profits who have Facebook pages and only seem to be active in posting, but not responding to visitor messages or comments.

This DRIVES ME NUTS!

Not only should you respond to your visitor messages and comments, but when you get phone calls, emails, etc. you should respond in a timely matter.

Even if you don’t have the answer SAY SOMETHING.

And, I’m not saying you need to respond within the first 10 seconds someone posts.  But, you should respond within a day (24 hours).

Also, the type of business you have will help you determine how fast you should respond.

When I was in real estate, we’d get inquires on properties and respond within 30 minutes or faster (if we were able to).  We found that sometimes an hour was too long and prospects would be off to another agent by then (Heck, 5 minutes could be too long).

Don’t let your prospects/customers/clients go to your competitors.  Give them what they want and acknowledge that they exist.

The worst thing you can do is ignore them.

Go show your prospects/customers/clients that you care and get back to them today!

Now go take action!
