If you have ever read his book, No B.S. Direct Marketing, Dan talks about his marketing triangle.
You need to get the RIGHT MESSAGE to the RIGHT MARKET using the RIGHT MEDIA.
What does that mean?
1. Right Message: What is the message you are trying to say? If you’re selling hair growth products, you want to give all of the benefits of hair growth and prove your product works.
2. Right Market: Who are you trying to sell to? This is very important. If you’re selling hair growth products, you’re not going to be selling to teenagers, are you? Probably not. You’re target market would be middle aged men who are going bald.
3. Right Media: How will you reach this target market? I bet you’re not going to be advertising at the local carnival. You’ll want to find out where bald men shop, what they read, what they watch, and then you’ll be sure to use this media to reach your target market.
This marketing triangle should be the first thing you look at before you create any marketing campaigns.
If you have the Right Message and the Right Market, but the Wrong Media, guess what… you’re marketing campaign WILL flop.
If you have the Right Message, Wrong Market, and the Right Media, guess what… you’re marketing campaign will flop.
All three sides of the triangle must match up.
